Ancient History

Over thousands of years, the landscapes, cities and monuments immortalised here by a team of superb photographers have become cherished as the wonders of the world. Many of the images are of breathtaking natural phenomena, while others bear witness to the ingenuity of the world's greatest architects over the centuries. Sacred places, fortified towns, skylines punctuated by domes, bell towers and minarets, along with deserts, mountain ranges, magnificent volcanoes and oceans - here is a tribute not only to our planet, but to those who have made it so rich and fascinating.
