Kizuna the Tie That Binds

Author(s): Etsuko Yasunaga

Anthology

KIZUNA the Tie that Binds is a collection of short essays and stories which were originally written as blog posts by Etsuko Yasunaga. Through the ebb and flow of ordinary daily life, the author ponders and wonders. She expresses her observations with words of simplicity. The topics covered in this book include belonging and identity, Japanese heritage and culture, living and dying, connection with loved ones, landscapes and nature, travel, language and writing. Etsuko explores the riches of human feelings, ideas, and her cognitive process in order to bring clarity and deeper understanding of her world. This book offers glimpses of many human emotions through life's tragedies and accomplishments - joy, happiness, sadness, sorrow, fear, trust and acceptance. Readers will gain a valuable access to a deeper understanding and the subtleties of Japanese culture. This book is an eye-opener for readers who are interested in Japanese traditions. Keen gardeners, nature lovers, snorkellers, singers, and language-lovers will also find this book entertaining. Written in her second language, this book took many years in the making. Without her determination and passion for written words, it would not have seen the light. Her expressions are often raw and open, and readers can almost sense the hard labour in creating this meaningful book. Most importantly, every piece voices her gratitude and appreciation of life. KIZUNA the Tie that Binds is written with honesty and humility, and is full of delights and revelations. It's an authentic reflection of the author's experiences recounted in a retrospective manner. It's unique, intimate and personal, yet profoundly universal. Out of fifty seven little gems, you are bound to find something appealing, inspiring and poignant. If you already know the author, this book will bring you to even a deeper understanding of who she really is. If you don't know the author yet, you will come to know her. It may bring tears and smiles. KIZUNA the Tie that Binds is an exquisitely presented, aesthetically beautiful book - a delight to your eyes and moving to your heart.

Product Information

Etsuko Yasunaga was born in Japan, and loved to read and write from a very early age. She studied Japanese literature and linguistics at university. She moved to Australia in her late twenties, and taught Japanese as a second language at a Bayside school in Melbourne. After leaving formal teaching, Etsuko explored teaching in a gym environment as a group fitness instructor, and today still teaches mind-body exercise. Etsuko's unabating passion for written words has driven her to realise the lifetime dream of publishing a book in her second language. In that sense KIZUNA the Tie that Binds is a book of celebration. Etsuko lives in the beautiful coastal town of Inverloch, Victoria with her husband Robert Kenyon.
