Over time, he joined a very short, exclusive list of lifetime achievements in the world of cinema, on the strength of such widely honored efforts as The Outlaw Josey Wales, Bird, Unforgiven, Mystic River, Million Dollar Baby, Letters from Iwo Jima and Gran Torino. Within the cinema community, Eastwood is universally admired for his approach to filmmaking, With his talent for innovation and craftsmanship, the elegant simplicity of his creative and technical direction, as well as his loyalty to and trust in crew and friends, Eastwood has, over the decades, reinvented or reinvigorated whole genres of cinema and character types. This book, based on extensive interviews with a stellar array of talented filmmaker and actors; including Matt Damon, Leonardo di Caprio, Gene Hackman, Hilary Swank, Forest Whitaker, Morgan Freeman and Ken Watanabe, explains how he did it. Eastwood and his team share their experiences working on his award winning films and explain their widely heralded process through the various stages of filmmaking. And with coverage of all of Eastwood's thirty five films, the book is a full career retrospective as well. The book is comprehensively illustrated with production shots, posters and concept art and film frames, much of its previously unpublished.
