50 Diabetes Myths That Can Ruin Your Life: and the 50 Diabetes Truths That Can Save it

Author(s): Riva Greenberg

Health

This is a cutting-edge guide that will be of enormous benefit to everyone living with diabetes, which identifies the 50 most prevalent (and misleading) diabetes myths - and thoroughly and expertly explains the life-saving truths they obscure. It is critical that diabetes patients realize that they're in the hands of health care providers only two to four hours a year on average. For the remaining 8,757 hours, they must manage their diabetes alone. Due of the overwhelming number of tasks facing them every day, accurate information is vital. And yet few conditions are as subject to so many myths as diabetes. This book does what no book has ever done so directly, clearly and expertly before: dispel the 50 most common myths that tend to rule patients' lives - and then put the 'power of the truth' back into patients' hands - something, startlingly, few physicians are able to do, in part because they receive just a few days' instruction on diabetes while in medical school, and today's healthcare system simply does not allow most practitioners to spend adequate time with patients teaching them what they need to know to manage this chronic illness. Patient-expert Greenberg's book will be an essential companion to the more than 20 million Americans with diabetes as well as the more than 50 million with prediabetes.
